Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important political figure commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
