"It's positive. We firmly believe that he'll participate in a key capacity. With luck it's the first Test. Should that not happen, we'll reassess."

All-rounder Cameron Green was recently pulled out from Australia's squad for their ODI contests against the subcontinent side as a preventive step because of discomfort in his torso.

"Considerable effort has gone into creating the schedule for him to be available for the first Test as an dual-role player," he elaborated.

"His involvement was limited to the starting games regardless. How he handles the bat in limited-overs, even if it just sets him back for 24 more hours, we just made the decision to adopt a safer strategy."
